We have a fantastic opportunity for an Water Management Ganger to join our Civils team in the South West, covering the Devon area. Initially based on the North Devon Link Road scheme in South Molton. We are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Senior Works Manager,

On a day to day basis, the successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Implementing temporary surface water management measures and controls across the NDLR scheme (as works progress)
  • To be responsible for refuelling of pumps, monitoring and replacement / improvement of silt control measures.
  • Undertaking the daily management of the Watercourse dewatering and silt control measures on site.

This work will be undertaken in coordination with the Environmental Clerk Of Works.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills:

  • Good practical knowledge of construction and watercourse management
  • Able to work individually and plan / structure your own daily tasks to ensure that the pumps and water management measures are operational and efficient.
  • To be able to communicate with others and discuss / liaise with the Environmental Clerk Of Works to ensure compliance with the measures implemented.
  • To be able to supervise and direct a small team to manage the daily duties involved in inspecting / maintaining and refuelling pumps and dewatering equipment.

Although not essential, having experience with water management and / or of work in a similar role, construction groundworks knowledge and having a Full UK driving licence would be beneficial in your application.
