Stepney to challenge for B12 title

Jonathan Stepney will contest the full Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship this year in his 1.9-litre engined Peugeot 205 GTi, thanks to support from sponsors Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, Burroughs & Burroughs Stewart Associates, Sian Formwork Ltd, CCS Scaffolding and Motorhome Services Scotland.

Co-driven by his father Aled Davies, the 33-year old Perth-based Welsh driver made his Asphalt Rally Championship debut on last year’s Tour of Epynt and suffered mechanical issues which forced retirement whilst holding a considerable lead in the B12 class.

This was then followed with the Manx National Rally, where an excellent result was achieved by winning the B12 class both times on the double-header event.

Jonathan, who represented Wales at Clay Pigeon shooting, started competing in road rallying back in 2005, so the 2020 Asphalt Rally Championship calendar with more closed road stage events will certainly suit him, as he prepares for the opening round of the series, the Legend Fires North West Stages (20/21 March).

Jonathan and Aled are extremely thankful to all their sponsors for their support and enthusiasm and look forward to a successful year.
